A Blast from the Past

Many years before Space Ghost became the hero he is today; he was a young want a be hero who was finding his way. During this time, he teamed up with a young woman named Luna Solaris, who can bend light and use it at her whims. Because of her unique ability she is known by the name of Eclipse Woman. The partnership ended when Luna stole the prototype of the Power Band from Space Ghost.

Now, years later Luna, who is a master burglar, has finally crossed paths with Space Ghost again. This time she broke into the lab of Doctor Henry Contra, Jan and Jace’s grandfather, to steal an artifact from him. Unfortunately for her, this means that Space Ghost is on the case and hot on her trail. However, when she unknowingly unleashes a monster, she may need Space Ghosts help in bailing her out.

Love is in the Air

This issue encapsulates what has made Space Ghost the best title on the shelf in the shops today. The single-issue sitcom style of storytelling that connects to a bigger picture really hooks the readers’ interest and keeps them coming back for more. David Pepose really captures the humanity of the characters in the story, well also showing the complexity of the individual. This allows the reader to truly relate to the characters and identify with them. Pepose understands that the world isn’t black & white, but rather differing levels of gray, and this is how he connects the reader to the characters. This is why his writing resonates so well with readers of this series and his other works as well.

The art in this issue is what we have become accustomed to in this series, simply awesome. Jonathan Lau does an impeccable job and proves why he is one of the best artists in the industry. Bringing the emotional connections and world to life visually is no easy task, but Lau not only succeeds at this, but excels with it. Andrew Dalhouse does a fantastic job matching the colors to the art, while Taylor Esposito brings pure emotion to the lettering. This art team is one of, if not the best in the industry, and this is not to disparage any other teams, just a feather in the cap of this team.
