A Team Divided
With Wheeler being seduced by the lies of Lucian Plunder, the rest of the Planeteers are hiding formulating their next move. But the teams’ fractures run deeper than just Wheeler’s doubts. Ma-Ti goes off on his own to council with Captain Planet, well Gi, Linka, and Kwame try to get on the same page and put together a plan to save Gaia. As they put their plan in motion, they have no clue that Lucian Plunder has gotten Wheeler to give him the fire ring and has plans on unleashing his newfound power on the unsuspecting world.
Pollution Wins the Day
Issue four brings the reader into the psyche of the Planeteers, which really shows their character flaws and concerns. David Pepose does an awesome job of humanizing the characters and showing us that they have real life issues and problems, along with the weight of this immense responsibility. Letting the reader into the motivation and fears of the Planeteers really makes us feel closer to them. Just when you think that their personal trials are the worst of the worries, the final page reveals a much more fearsome villain is on the horizon.
The art in this issue is fantastic and really brings the reader into the world. Eman Casallos really captures the character’s emotions and shows the reader exactly what they are feeling. The character designs are also fantastic, with the introduction of a new villain taking center stage. Jorge Sutil does an excellent job of matching the colors with the art seamlessly, well Jeff Eckleberry shows the character’s emotions in the lettering.
