The Tides are Turning
This issue really raises the stakes well continuing the struggle of Bandar and its people. Ray Fawkes does an incredible job of unfolding this drama in the jungle. The methodology that The Phantom shows throughout this issue shows the depth of the character and makes his actions more impactful. At the same time, showing the intelligence and cunning of Guran shows that The Phantom is not the only hero in Bandar. All of that before we even get to the action and the perfect set up ending is why this issue, and series should definitely be a must read.
Russell Olson does an amazing job of keeping that updated retro feel with the art. The backgrounds and action scenes really steal the show on the art front. While the colors look classic, yet modern for this new era. Taylor Esposito does an amazing job with the lettering, which keeps the reader informed as well as bringing out the mood of the story. Even though the story is kind of wordy, the lettering and placement makes it easy to digest.
