The House of Slaymaker

As Slade realizes he’s not in Alabama anymore, he needs to protect himself and his beetle Pac. In doing so Slade discovers he has super strength when he punches through the head of one of his would be captures. Unfortunately for Slade he doesn’t know how to control his powers or even knows how they work. This leads to him being captured and taken hostage.

They take him along with other captives to Swarm City. A lawless hub for the outlaws and undesirables of the yard. They are forced to enter the Bludhole, where they will have to face the bloodsucking monsters that will try and drain them of their blood. Will Slade figure out how to use his powers in time to save him, his fellow captives, and even his brother Syd?

Bloodlust

Bug Wars #2 takes us further into this Mad Max inspired world. Jason Aaron has built an intriguing world with some wonderful bloodlust. The apocalyptic insect world really brings you in. But it’s the story of our young hero Slade that will really keep you engaged. As the world continues to unfold, so does the readers’ interest to learn more about it.

The art in this issue and series thus far has been fantastic. Mahmud Asrar’s character design and landscapes are phenomenal. Matthew Wilson’s colors bring the art to life in a perfect complimentary role with the art.

Final Thoughts

Bug Wars #2 really does an awesome job of moving the story forward and continuing building the world. The story is awesome, and the art is just as awesome. This should be a sure fire pick up at the LCS, and a slam dunk addition to your Pull List.

Overall Grade: 10/10
