Send All of Heaven
The U.S.C.I.S is faced with a hostage situation where the Cartel wants Javier in exchange for three hostages. One problem, according to records Javier is dead. But we all know that Javier has his powers back as the GunSlinger and is currently battling angels with Godsend. Which they have just finished off, well until there is more.
It is at this point that Godsend reveals his child has been taken and in trouble. They need to find an angelic General Matias. As they hunt him down in hopes of getting answers, God sends a messenger to ask for a meeting with Godsend and GunSlinger. But a bigger problem is brewing.
The Crossover is Getting Closer
This issue wears many hats and has a lot of setups for a much bigger event, and even with all this added weight, it still delivers. Todd MacFarlane does a masterful job of continuing the GunSlinger journey well moving it towards the greater Spawn Universe crossover event. Walking that line can be hard, yet it is done seamlessly here. So huge kudos for that.
The Spawn Universe has always sported some of the best artwork in all of comics and that tradition continues here. Carlo Barberi does fantastic work with the character designs and the background and scenery. All the artwork just jumps off the pages. Ivan Nunes colors tie it all together and really make the artwork pop.

Final Thoughts
GunSlinger Spawn #42 is a great continuation of the story and an even better start to the bigger crossover. The Spawn Universe is on fire recently and this book keeps that streak going. This is a must-have issue, and the universe as a whole should be on your Pull List for the huge crossover that is upon us.
Overall Grade: 9/10
