The Story:
Tate has taken this story and introduced more excitement and suspense as we see flesh eating kids and a giant monster all within this castle of hell. I enjoy how snarky our Green Lantern is as she was not interested in dealing with the knight who watched over the castle. The humor mixed in with the horror is what draws me into this story and makes it fun all at the same time.
Tom’s lettering adds an extra bit of oomph to the story as well. His ability to craft the words horrifically and yet keep the humor alive adds flavor and heart to this issue.
The Artwork:
Giovanna really hammers home the colors in this issue as the dark green mixes in with the deep purples in such a delightful manner making this issue flash before our eyes with epic action. Werther is so good at crafting these sequences and drawing out suspenseful creatures for the story he creates it is such a gift and joy getting to see what comes from inside of his mind for each issue.
The duo draws the children as though they are ripped from nightmares as the chaos of blood dripping from their mouths and yet our Lantern remains unbothered in her expressions. These are the little things that make this issue stand out so well.
Final Thoughts:
Green Lantern Dark #3 ups the adventure and horror factor in this issue bringing about chaotic creatures making this issue a lot of fun to read. This has been a silent sleeper hit for DC and one that I hope more people start to pay attention to!
Overall Grade: 9/10
