The Battle of Grover’s Corner

Tariq Geiger is cornered by the New King and the Las Vegas army. He tells Nate to secure the townspeople as he takes on these invading foes. As Tariq transforms into the Glowing Man, he starts to dispatch of the enemies. That is until he steps up against the New King, who has special armor and weapons that Geiger can’t melt with his radiation.

This puts Geiger at a disadvantage, with the New King getting the upper hand. At this time Nate goes back to save his friend. But as Nate approaches Geiger realizes that the New King’s Knights don’t have the same protection. As he annihilates the Knights, he gets the upper hand on the New King and dispatches him. But this comes at a cost, and the stakes are about to be raised.

We Need More Mercenaries

Geiger #9 was a climatic second part to this mini Grover’s Corner arc. The battle with the New King and his Knights is some of the best action in comics in recent memory. Geoff Johns has built a world where the line between hero and villain is very blurred. The teases at the end involving other characters from the UnNamed Universe are very exciting.

The art in Geiger is second to none. The amazing effect that makes the Glowing Man come to life is some of the best art in all of comics. The graphic violence and action panels make you feel like you are in the heat of battle with Geiger. This entire art department comes together and makes the most amazing things happen on every page.
