Hyde Street #2:
Nobody who ends up trapped in the mysterious Hyde Street has asked to be there by choice. This includes ostracized Boy Scout Pip, who could not tie a knot. This was seen as a freak by his fellow kids. Now Pip finds himself on a ride along with a police officer with a dark secret. Pip may have finally found how to tie a knot after all of these years.

The Artwork:
There continues to be a refined sense of realism with the artwork Ghost Machine is putting out. This issue weaves some very complex artwork to add to the resume. Ivan, Brad, and Danny weave a grotesque horror tale. This issue explores the darker side of a lost and castaway Boy Scout.
VOTE IN THIS YEARS CHEERSIES!
The team does an extremely good job making Pip seem like an innocent and harmless child who was picked on. It gets us to sympathize with him. However, on the drop of a dime they remind us just who and what this child is.When the inner demon is forced out of him, they draw him in a soulless and haunting manner.
The use of shading on the characters’ faces and the lack of color in some areas adds even more to the mystery and horror aspect. Meanwhile, Rob’s lettering adds to the slow-building suspense. It crafts an innocent inner monologue for Pip that again turns on a dime.
The Writing:
I don’t think folks are giving the credit to Geoff that he deserves for his ability to create such a slow-burning horror story shrouded in mystery and grotesque sequences. This story begins as one of innocence. We begin to sympathize with Pip, and whatever it is he may have done, perhaps they deserved it. This all changes as his proper side comes out. He faces an infamous killer and comes face to face with the scorekeeper. We are given a tiny bit of an answer as to what is at play, but it ends in a cliffhanger, leaving us dying for more.
Overall:
Hyde Street #2 delivers another intense issue that is steeped in a slow-building sense of dread amongst bloody panels and excellent character development. Horror fans, there is no longer an excuse not to get your hands on this tale, as Hyde Street is hitting all of the right beats satisfying the reader with every panel.
