Turned to Ash

Space Ghost #6 opens with Doctor Xander Ibal hiring Moltar to acquire Lucidium for him from Contra Industries. In the process he ignites the rage inside of Moltar ensuring that he will burn it down as well. The only being that can stand in his way is Space Ghost.

Space Ghost arrives to try and stop Moltar along with Jan & Blip. Unfortunately, the team is a member short. Jace is still mentally trying to get over what happened between him and Zorak in the previous issue. Moltar’s anger is too strong, and it looks like our space team may not make it through this one. Even if they do what will Doctor Ibal have in store for our heroes next?

“Nothing That Can’t Be Fixed”

David Pepose continues to kill it on this resurgence of Space Ghost. This Issue delivers on story, action, and tugging at your heart strings. The trauma that Jace is going through is highlighted and adds an extra layer to the story.

My personal favorite piece is humanizing Moltar. Given the story about how his family was killed and how he was helpless connects with the reader. That’s the source of his anger. It’s next level. When you can get sympathy for a villain, you’re crushing it, and Pepose is in fact crushing it.

Jonathan Lau’s art in Space Ghost is among my favorites in all comic books currently. Every panel feels epic, and the art looks phenomenal. Andrew Dalhouse uses vibrant colors and makes Jonathan’s art pop off the page. At times it feels like I’m watching a big budget motion picture on the pages.
