WOLVERINE Deep Cut #3 – Truth Hurts

Published:

Chris Claremont is going all the way back to the 80s in this Uncanny X-Men #227 spinoff. We last saw Logan in issue 2, as he discovered Sinister is making him an endless supply of enemies. So in true Wolverine fashion, he’s determined to end it once and for all.

*While no prior knowledge is needed to enjoy this Wolvie story, knowing the backstory always makes it a bit more fun. However, you do get a quick ‘previously on’ at the beginning of each issue.

The Story for Issue 3

The fight against the Marauders continues as Wolverine continues on his journey of finding Sinister. Despite learning they’re just clones of the real deal created by a mad man, the Marauder clones continue to fight Wolverine with more SLAMMOS than anyone should be able to handle. As one fight wraps up, another is just beginning, and Wolverine quickly realizes the first was just a warm up.

The Art

WOLVERINE Deep Cut continues to have some beautifully classic and detailed X-Men style art. With the Marauders unique powers, it creates an extra layer of fun. However, we still see the determination and fire in Wolverine’s eyes. Even when he’s looking like a Picasso painting. The cherry on top of the art in this issue was all the SLAMMOs and the Ska-Boom! There was a lot of action in issue 3, and the art moved it along in a such a fun and gorgeous way.

Rating for WOLVERINE Deep Cut #3 9/10

Logan never considers himself a hero, despite the countless lives he saves or villains he puts down. He only sees the destruction he causes and the trail of blood he leaves behind. Logan sees Captain America as a true hero. He doesn’t realize sometimes he’s even more of one, because he’s willing to do what the other heroes aren’t.

In this issue, you see him struggle with that. He enjoys taking down those who hurt the ones he loves, and for that he thinks he’ll never be a hero. As a huge Wolverine fan, I’m truly loving these Uncanny X-Men side stories Chris Claremont has been creating. Logan has so much depth to him, and whether he’s trying to enjoy some down time in Madripoor, or take down a team of mutant clones, there’s always more to his story. WOLVERINE Deep Cut is a fun, action packed, Wolvie story that’s about to get pretty sinister.

For any Logan or X-Men fans, make sure to add ‘WOLVERINE Deep Cut’ your pull list. SNIKT!
