An Exciting Continuation

Continuing Steve Orlando’s Scarlet Witch run with the second installment, we pick up right where we left on in the first comic of the run. Previously, Wanda was eaten and killed by one of the Griever’s worms, but was she really killed? No one knows her better than her brother Pietro, who says her flesh might as died but her spirit surely hasn’t. But with Wanda gone, that leaves Pietro and Darcy to fix this mess the Griever at the End of All Things has caused. They must take down the Griever while protecting as many citizens of Lotkill as they possibly can.

Wanda’s Choice

Meanwhile, Wanda awakens on the Dark Road, the Witches Underworld in the presence of the Queen of Nevers, the sister of the Griever. The Queen of of Nevers is the abstract being of eternal possibilities, and that all of the universes Nexus beings while her sister is the embodiment of order and control. Turns out, Wandda, being a Nexus being, is much more important as a Nexi than she thought she was. Wanda is on the right path to do even more in her life and Griever wants to put an end to that. Even Wanda having a twin, Pietro, adds to the Griever’s need to kill Wanda once and for all.

The Queen of Nevers gives Wanda a choice; to not return to her world and that’s the end of her life, or go back to Lotkill and fight the Griever. Meanwhile, in Lotkill, Quicksilver and Darcy have a new plan and it involves one of my personal favorites, the third sibling, Polaris!

The Art

I cannot say enough about the artwork of Scarlet Witch #2. The visuals are absolutely gorgeous and the wild colors make each panel insanely stunning. Something I appreciate the most is how Pietro, Wanda, and Polaris look. They all look look absolute powerhouses with their unique styles.

The Writing

I am LOVING what Steve Orlando is doing with this run! It’s mystical, it’s hard-hitting, it’s beautiful. Involving the Queen of Nevers with Wanda was such a great choice and a creative way to showcase Wanda being even more of a badass than she already is. I can practically hear the third edition calling my name as a sit here wanting more and more.

I give this a 10 out 10
