WOLVERINE Deep Cut by Marvel Comics

Recently Chris Claremont released WOLVERINE, Madripoor Knights. It was a 5 issue spinoff of the Uncanny X-Men #268. It looks like he’s doing it again, only this time he’s spinning off of Uncanny X-Men #227. Much like Madripoor Knights, you don’t need to read a thirty year old comic to follow this story, but it definitely never hurts.

Check out a review for: WOLVERINE, Madripoor Knights. Another Chris Claremont Wolverine comic.

The Story for Issue #1

It’s Wolverine’s birthday. While to many that would be a joyous occasion, for Wolverine it means a reunion with his most annoying nemesis. Sabretooth has a tradition of making Logan’s birthday a day to torture his favorite little runt. One way he does that is by killing someone he loves, since Wolverine himself can’t be killed. With Sabretooth having the same mutant healing abilities as Wolverine, their feud is never ending. This time, however, Wolverine is prepared… so he thinks.

The Art

Anytime you see Wolverine up against Sabretooth, you know it’s going to get gruesome, and this comic was no exception. The art gave us action, beauty and gore. Along with an awesome SLAMMO! There were beautiful details in the characters, the expressions, and the backgrounds. The art truly complimented the story in perfect X-Men fashion.

WOLVERINE Deep Cut Rating: 9.5/10

I’m a sucker for a good Wolvie story, and these Uncanny X-Men spinoffs are just an extra level of fun. More than thirty years after this original comic came out this spinoff story seems more relevant than ever. If you loved Disney Plus’ X-Men 97, then I can’t recommend this comic enough. Chris Claremont is doing a fantastic job of keeping the Uncanny X-Men consistent, while having fun dusting off some of these stories. Any and all X-Men fans need to add this one to their pull list. SNIKT!
