DEADPOOL and WOLVERINE: WWIII from Marvel Comics

This comic kicked off last month, and what better time to get to know the comic versions of everyone’s favorite quick healing mutants than right before their movie? In issue 1 we see Wolvie sniffing out clues, and looking for a bad guy, only to stumble upon his BFF, Deadpool. While Wolverine is always happy to see the Merc with the Mouth, he’ll never admit it, and his first sighting of Deadpool causes him to speak a couple obscenities (censored of course, as this is a Marvel comic).

In issue #1 the two team up, however they both aren’t looking for the same outcome. Deadpool then takes off, but Logan knows there is more going on, and Wade may have the answers. As Logan seeks out Deadpool in an attempt to get to the bottom of everything he comes across a much bigger problem… enter issue 2.

The Story for Issue #2

Issue 2 kicks right off where Issue 1 left us. Logan walked into a trap. However, it was a trap he would have walked into even if he had known. Wade left him breadcrumbs, and Logan came to his rescue. Said trap came with a shell of Deadpool (AKA Deadpool the 3rd), a condescending evil genius, and a room full of rich people pulled straight out of The Hunger Games. While I don’t doubt there is anything that Wolvie & Wade can’t defeat together, Deadpool isn’t his Merc with the Mouth self. Nevertheless, unlike in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Wade doesn’t seem to be a lost cause, and Logan doesn’t seem to be walking away.

The Art

This is the art you want from a Wolverine & Deadpool comic: gruesome, detailed, and beautiful. Seeing two of my favorite mutants go full force attack mode on each other was absolute perfection. It got so detailed and gory at times that it had me turning my head. Meanwhile, the colors complimented the art so perfectly that it created a calmness at times, even when you knew DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE were ready to &#$%& go.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: WWIII Rating 9/10

It’s hard to talk Deadpool & Wolverine right now, without thinking of the upcoming movie, and this comic got me all kinds of excited for that movie. The well known violence between the two (or during one of their team ups), is so much fun to watch, but this comic does way more than that. We got a vulnerable Deadpool. It was a Wade Wilson, Logan was worried about.

These characters are so lovable, not just because of how badass they are. It’s also because of what they think they aren’t. They’re so much more than a Merc with a Mouth, and a berserker rage filled animal. This comic gave us a softer side of these two, but never lost who they actually are. I’m very excited to see where this story goes on many different levels, as there is a lot more going on as well. Whether you’re a longtime comic reader, or just pumped for July 26th, definitely add this one to your pull list. SNIKT!
