Klik Klik Boom from Image Comics, Issue 5
*Spoilers ahead for the previous issue.
The last issue we were left with Serena, who we, (or at least I) was certain had met her demise. While I felt Serena being alive was a very pleasant surprise, the happiness didn’t last long. We quickly realized, along with Serena, that Sprout appears to be ready to go out in a blaze of glory as she takes her enemies down, in what I imagine will be a bit reminiscent of Tony Montana.
Without the dialogue and coke, of course. However, Serena is now on a mission to save her new friend. And that’s where issue 4 left us. Serena finds a picture of Sprout with some friends, and with her new trusty bunny sidekick, she hopes said friends can help save Sprout. Much like Sprout saved Serena.

The Story for Issue #5
This issue kicks off with Serena, Beatrix the bunny, and Sprout’s friends. They’re all dressed and ready to cause a distraction. What starts off as somewhat comical, then quickly shifts to a more serious situation as we see Sprout face to face with the person she has been hunting this whole time. The person she blames for her Grandfather’s death. However, she appears to come in peace.
Sprout learns why Mr. Harrington, and Minerva World Services killed her grandfather. While, this answers some questions the readers may have, it definitely doesn’t provide full closure.
That’s when we see a side of Sprout that we really haven’t seen in the last 4 issues. I consistently saw an innocence to her throughout the flashbacks of her as a child, and I even saw it in the moments she was murdering people. However, that innocence seems to be lost.
The Art
The cover art has been amazingly beautiful throughout this series, however, this one had me stop and go, “Ooooh!” It’s simple, it’s sad, and it says a lot without saying anything. While the art has been consistently calming and beautiful throughout all five issues, Sprout seemed different in this story, and that was all the art.
When your main character speaks through photographs, you got to nail that art, and that was definitely done here. I could see the anger, and frustration in Sprout. Those freckles, and her almost childlike attire showed a lack of innocence here. Only rage.
Klik Klik Boom #5 Rating: 8.5/10
As this is the last of this five issue run, we did get some closure, and the story came full circle. As with all great stories, though, it left me also wanting more. More backstory, more flashbacks. Overall this is a fantastic five issue run. It has mystery, action, heart, and a sprinkle of comedy. If you haven’t started it yet, I highly recommend heading over to your local comic shop and buying all 5 issues.
