*** MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD ***
The Art
This issue opens up with an incredible splash page by Chris Samnee with eye popping colors by Matt Wilson to transport us back into the Firepower universe! The visual storytelling that is achieved between the art, colors and paneling reminds readers of how high the stakes were at the end of issue 24. Along with the emotional battle that needs to be resolved if our heroes are to be successful.
The Writing
As in all books in this series, the writing by Robert Kirkman is strategically placed in panels to achieve the maximum emotional payoffs. This complements the simplistic, yet detailed art style of Chris Samnee and jaw dropping colors by Matt Wilson to further progress the overall story.
It’s the combination of these three elements that forces the reader to take a step back and try to fill in some of the gaps to predict what happens next. This gets the reader to become fully immersed in the story.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, we learn a great deal about Wei Lun’s past as it directly affects Owen, but can the two work through their differences in order to lead the team to take down the great serpent and Master Shaw?
Do the remaining survivors of the group even have the will and firepower to stop them and prevent total destruction? These are some of the many questions we are left with as this issue concludes!
OVERALL GRADE: 9 OUT OF 10
