Hail Bataar!
Vigil enters Bataar’s room to discover his master pondering. Bataar asks Vigil if it is true that Ash is alive and in the wastelands. Vigil confirms this and then awaits his master’s commands on eliminating Ash. It is decided that Bataar would call upon the Eclipse and put them back to work hunting for Ash. After Vigil leaves to take care of this business, Bataar welcomes his loving family into his area, and we see a softer side of Bataar.
Ash and Jiminy are with Loloi in her food truck going through the wastelands. Loloi explains to Ash that he shouldn’t have destroyed the collector as they are just collecting presents for the savior Bataar. She then goes on to tell the tale of how Bataar defeated the Cinder and saved the world, and that’s why he deserves the gifts they collect. Ash seems rather moody about these statements and even disrespects the great Bataar. This really irritates Loloi who defends Bataar until Ash tells a truth that leaves the reader with one hell of a cliffhanger.
The Rightful Savior
This issue hits the ground running with some great backstory and really moves the story forward. Ludo Lullabi really does an incredible job of creating the world we find ourselves in. The complexities that Lullabi put into the characters really make the reader feel a familiarity with them. This world is definitely not black and white but rather mired in different layers of gray. The revelation at the end of the issue really sets the table for what’s to come.
The art in this issue has an awesome sci-fi feel to it. Adriano Lucas does a fantastic job of bringing the world to life. The character designs are original and are unique to each character. Well, the world that they are in really gives you a desolate feeling. Lucas does an incredible job with the color selections as well.

Final Thoughts
Ghost Pepper #2 really builds up the world well also giving the reader some much needed backstory on some of our main characters. The story has an epic feel to it, and the art drives that fact home even more. This book is my Pick of the Week and is a must grab at the LCS this week. If this series isn’t on your Pull List, you need to make that happen to please Bataar.
