Terminator#1:

The plans to kill Sarah and John Connor have failed, leaving Skynet no other choice but to deploy their homicidal agents of chaos throughout time to target various members of the resistance and their ancestors. Nowhere and no one in time is safe, as Skynet is stopping at nothing to win this war once and for all.

The Artwork and Letters:

Starting off with the line work and shading it can be difficult to properly capture the age of a character when drawing them. Luke and Colin capture every wrinkle and hair strand of age down to the finest detail. It showcases Harper and Penny to have weathered many storms over their lives.

The Machine itself is built like the terrifying tank they have always been known to be. Crafting their mechanical parts and the dead menacing horror in the glowing eyes. The artwork builds the suspense and the breath taking anxiety our characters face and feel in this opening issue.

When it comes to coloring, the setting begins with tranquility, and the scene gives us a false sense of peace. Opening the issue on a gorgeous blue lake with green tree-covered mountains lures the reader in before the glass shatters. The chromatic colors of our villain glean amongst the blood that covers it as it proceeds on its warpath. Jeff accompanies the tale filling the letters and words with age and a sense of tiredness from Harper and the horror from Penny as their lives come crashing to a halt.

Now For the Story:

We’ve seen it a dozen times before. Terminator goes back to hunt its prey and stop anyone who will stand in Skynet’s way. But what if that undying machine came back in time? What if it was to hunt you down and followed you through time, forcing you to look over your shoulder every day of your life? This story builds on the lore of Terminator and paints a new light, adding the horror back into the story. The mysterious Terminator is shown to be robust and genuinely terrifying. It creates a suspenseful and heartbreaking scenario for our characters. There is going to be no holding back with this run and the prospect of the unknown mixed with anticipation has me very excited.

Overall Feelings:

Terminator #1 brings back the horror aspect to the franchise and adds new lore and a sense of wonder. What was in the bags the duo would never speak of? What exactly is this machine they were up against? So many questions and so much excitement I cannot wait for issue 2!
