The Story

At the end of the colorful story of the Kryptonite Spectrum and its impact on Superman, Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum #5 does a great job bringing it all home. Lex Luther is overjoyed to see his diabolical plan in action, watching K-Man bring Superman to his knees. Superman, who has experienced the most exhausting side effects of the different colored Kryptonites, surely has reached his limit on what else he can take. With the city of Metropolis at stake, Superman at an all time low in energy, and Lex using whatever color Kryptonite to bring the hero down, the stakes are higher than ever in the battle it’s all led to.

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum has been a fun ride beginning to end, and ended on a very unexpected note. Even to the end, W. Maxwell Prince was able to keep you on your toes with all the unexpected twists.

Another thing I think Prince was able to capture was the genuine respect and friendship between Batman and Superman, who worked together throughout the series. Batman went out of his way to help Superman understand the different colors of the Kryptonite, and didn’t bat an eye when things got tough. With him to the very end of the story, and even continued to do whatever he could after the events, Batman continues to prove to be loyal to Superman.

The Art

The artwork has been consistently high in quality throughout the comic, but in the fifth issue, we see all the different tones come together. Martin Morazzo brings all of the factors that made each issue of Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum stand out and blends them into the story in the best way.

Alongside Morazzo is Chris O’Halloran, the colorist of Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum, who brings so much excitement to the pages of the comic. The artwork of the comic has been fun, with vibrant colors all over the pages, that brings the fun energy to life. The artists, along with Good Old Neon, who lends their fantastic lettering talents to the comic, deserves all their flowers for the exemplary work!

Final Thoughts

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum #5 finishes the exciting story of the different color of Kryptonite, and all the chaotic side effects that go with them. The creative team did a fantastic job all the way through!

Overall Grade – 8.5/10
