The Story

We kick off with a flashback in Cleveland, Ohio. Tandy and Tyrone are debating whether or not to stay and help everyone out. We then cut to the Inbetween. Tyrone is with his and Tandy’s daughter, and he’s listening to Tandy’s conversation. We then cut to Tandy in Haven, and she and Ramirez have a conversation about Captain Jensen’s condition.
We then see the Fenris Twins going and attacking innocent civilians with bugs. Cloak then switches places with Dagger and deals with the locust swarm. Cloak and the others then try to investigate where they came from, and then hear a noise from inside a building. An explosion then happens, and the Fenris Twins show up.
We then get a very crazy, multi-panel fight. We then cut back to Tandy and her and Tyrone’s daughter. They are coloring together, and then Tandy is able to feel Tyrone getting attacked. We then see Captain Jensen get turned into a Man-Bat-like creature. Then, we see Tyrone continue to get attacked, and then the craziness happens.Â
We then cut back to Tandy and Ayla, and the final panel shows the 2 of them going to attempt to help Tyrone out.
Now, NI’s Megan and myself reviewed this issue, and you can see our thoughts below:
The Art
Kat: I loved Lorenzo’s last issue, and I love it in this issue as well. He has a way to draw characters, and the way he does it works so well. Add in both Andrew’s coloring skills and Joe’s lettering, and the books looks amazing.
Megan: Lorenzo Tammetta, Andrew Dalhouse and Joe Caramagna continued their expert artwork on Cloak or Dagger #2, bringing the heat to each and every page. Lorenzo’s drawings were perfectly detailed, all the way down to the facial expressions.
Andrew Dalhouse always delivers when his talents are used for the coloring and this issue is no exception. With the classic juxtaposition of Cloak and Dagger, Dalhouse is able to work off that even when neither hero can be around the other. The result is a beautifully colored comic that’s full of contrasting stunning colors that makes each page even better than the last.
Joe Caramagna handles the lettering of the comic, and makes you feel every bit of urgency in the words uttered from the characters. You can hear the worry in Dagger’s voice, the staggering in Cloak’s, and the fear in their daughters voice. Caramagna wrapped all of the artwork up in a perfect bow with the even flow he provided to the comic in the dialogue.
The Writing
Kat: Justina Ireland is a one-of-a-kind writer. She has taken 2 characters whom I love and has given them an amazing new story. This comic is unique and amazing, and I am loving every single second of it.
Megan: Justina Ireland perfectly followed up the thrilling first issue with Cloak or Dagger #2 that feels even more exciting, even higher stakes, and higher emotions across the board. There was so much happening in the comic, and it’s all paced extraordinarily well. Switching back and forth between Cloak and Dagger, while keeping the everything feel balanced was handled perfectly by Justina. All in all, excellently handled by the writer, and I’ll be anxiously waiting to see what happens in the next issue.
Overall Grade: 10/10
Kat: 10/10
Megan: 10/10
Final Thoughts
Kat: 2 issues in, and this comic is already exceeding every expectation I had for it. Justina and her team have done an exceptional job with this book. I cannot wait for what comes next.
Megan: I know this run is only for the X-Men: Age of Revelation event, but I could read so, so much more of this. Cloak or Dagger hits all the right notes and keeps your eyes locked into the pages.
