28 Years Later…

28 years ago, Sutton Reed was the sole survivor of a massacre in the woods. Her boyfriend snapped and killed all of their friends, before Sutton was able to kill him, at least that was her story to authorities. Fast forward 28 years and two teens have come up missing, which has some questioning what happened all those years ago. Now Sutton finds herself revisiting what actually happened in the woods and if that evil got free after all this time.

The Evil Resurfaces

This horror thriller opens strongly with a very interesting and quite mysterious premise. Ryan Parrott really captures the suspense with his slow burn introduction to this world. Revealing enough for the reader to know what is going on, but holding a lot back to keep the reader hooked. The graphic nature of the story puts the reader in the middle of what is going on and brings a level of horror to the story. Well, the mystery and intrigue create a thrilling atmosphere. Parrott does a magnificent job of blurring those lines and perfectly molding them together.

The art in this book matches the eerie vibes of the story perfectly. Letizia Cadonici takes this creepy story and brings it to life with her art. The character design is eerie; well, the background settings are equally unsettling. Then you get to the graphic and gory panels, and Cadonici really excels at showing the horror that is playing out in the story. Alessandro Santoro makes the images jump off the page with the color choices, encapsulating what the story is trying to do perfectly.
