The demon child with the world’s best parents and the angel child with grave-robbing parents are back. While they both seem to just want normal human lives, their future will clearly be anything but. Last we saw, The Adjudicator, who watched over them, has disappeared. While the kids seem relieved, they’re still a bit on edge.

The Story for Hornsby & Halo #9
It’s a Summer Festival! Rose is helping her parents raise money for charity, while Zack’s parents work on their next victim/client. As the young angel and demon bicker like siblings, a familiar creature runs by that only they can see. They’re once again faced with beings beyond the realm of Earth telling them what to do. However, this time, they can’t just say no, and others are starting to pay attention.

The Art
We’ve been to Heaven, Hell, Earth and beyond in Hornsby & Halo. All have been gorgeously depicted. This time we get a fun room of mirrors, fireworks, and some reality TV. All of which, take the art to beautiful new heights. Literally and figuratively. The colors, the details, the expressions, and more all come together to compliment this never ending battle of Heaven verse Hell.
Overall Grade: 9/10
Rose and Zachary started as acquaintances. However, they’ve come into a very sibling type relationship. They’re constantly bickering until they come across a common enemy. For siblings, that common enemy would be a parent (sorry, Mom). For these non-human kids, it’s angels and demons who want them to accept a future they have no choice over. Despite Zachary’s terrible parents, and Rose’s inner demon, they both care for the humans around them and value their mortal lives.
As this story continues, it’s interesting to see the evolution of their relationship while simultaneously coming into their powers and their unearthly heritage. A new element was introduced in this issue that shows they can’t stay under the radar forever. Which is about to make things that much more interesting. Let’s just hope breaking a mirror doesn’t lead to 7 years’ bad luck for demon and angel children.
