The Story for The Rocketfellers #7

In this issue we had to go back to the future for the truth. A truth that starts with their Christmas tree. Issue 2 was a festive fun comic where the Rocketfellers celebrated their first 21st century Christmas with a tree from the future. A tree that Roland (Dad) uses to kick off his explanation for their time traveling witness protection. We see a past in the future, where Roland and his sister argue about the ethics of the technology they’re working on, and comparing it to AI in the 21 century. As the conversation gets heated, a news report comes in. A report which isn’t so shocking to his sister.

The Art

From the 21st century to the 25th, the art was beautiful and detailed with amazing colors. Whether an arm was being atomized, or a futuristic but environmentally friendly building was being portrayed, it was all amazing art. Art that perfectly synced up with the story. Meanwhile, the tense, concerned, and happy expressions came through, thereby showing a family dynamic, that while sci-fi, is still very relatable.

Overall Grade: 10/10

I have absolutely loved meeting the Rocketfellers over the last 6 issues. However, this was the first issue that didn’t focus around the family dynamic. However, it still had a lot of relatable family drama with a sci-fi twist that is leading more so to how we got where we are. Meeting the Rocketfellers to the degree we have made this issue all the better. I fell in love with this family almost immediately. Now throwing in issues of sustainability, ethics, longevity, war, and so much more gives this story so many amazing layers. I found myself nodding along to ad in the future, and then agreeing with all Roland’s hesitancies, while also relating to both the mother and the daughter/sister as they argued.

The world of Ghost Machine keeps giving us amazing science fiction stories while still having such incredibly relatable characters and topics. While, it’s hard to pick a favorite comic in this world, The Rocketfellers is definitely at the top of the list if I had to make one. This comic just gets better and better.
