The Story and Writing
Sadly, we’re at the end of the Gotham City Sirens run, and I hate to see it end! The comic series has been such a fun ride, I would’ve loved to have more of it. Being at the last issue, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman are in the thick of it with Desparo’s plan to change all of Earth’s civilians into being more like him.
Harley currently has Desparo in a telepathic lockdown with the help of the young conduit, so the villain is unable to use his telepathic powers on anyone else. While Harley is attacking from the inside, Catwoman is doing her best to attack from the outside.
All the while, Poison Ivy has to stop the launching of the Kala-Ray, which is aimed at Earth and prepared to change every single inhabitant of the planet in Desparo’s own form.
Desparo says that everyone lives to serve, and he means serve him, so he’s not willing to give it up, even if the Sirens are prepared to end him.
Leah Williams made this series an action-packed thrill ride that never once stopped being full of high energy. She was able to let each of the Sirens have their time to shine without watering down the others, and was able to show how well they work together as a team. With such an exciting storyline, I’m very impressed with how she was able to nail the landing with the ending. I can’t wait to see what Leah Williams does next and hopefully it involves these characters!
The Art
The artwork of Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit has been so consistently good throughout the series and never once fell in quality. Haining, who has been on the creative team since the beginning, has shown so much of their talents throughout the issues.
Along with Haining, Alex Guimarães handled the colors, and has given the comic such a beautiful array of vibrancy, which matches the storyline perfectly. Additionally, Tom Napolitano, who has handled the letters, really brought new levels of emotion and depth to the story with his lettering talents. All in all, the artists truly flexed so much of their talents in each and every issue.
Final Thoughts
Like I said, I’m disappointed that the run is over, but the ending was handled beautifully. Shout out to the creative team for creating such a fun run!
Overall Grade – 9.8/10

I agree this series was far too short. I hope they get back together soon. I really like Poison Ivy in this and hope DC features her on her own FAR more often and as a return to being a villain. Great series here though.
