The Story:

Sophie is reintroducing some Supergirl lore into this story while giving her new life and direction. I am really enjoying how sympathetic Lesla-Lar has been written. She was always shunned by her family and then saw the way people looked at Supergirl which makes the reader feel for her despite the methods she went to gain fame. It also is smart by Sophie because, it gives cause and fresh identity to Kara as she struggles with her past in the same breath.

Another personal favorite aspect of this story is how Luthor and El are working together with Lena and Kara. There are nods and mentions of their families’ history with some tongue in cheek dialogue which Becca captures perfectly in the lettering.

The Art:

The action sequences in this are gigantic in a grand way. The way Sophie draws the battle and shows the small size of the neighborhood in comparison displays how grand everything is. With the art and Tamra’s coloring the sequences where Lesla transforms into Linda and then when her makeup is melting off is done well. There is an oozing texture feel to the transformations done in a clever and artistic manner. I continue to love the coloring in this story as well as the vibrancy that comes off of the panels. There is a fun moment where they get to become clever with Kara’s past outfits as she is trying on the best fit which was a fun nod to her legacy.

Overall Grade: 9/10

Supergirl #2 is a fun adventure that dives into important themes such as identity crisis and finding yourself while feeling lost in the shadows. The colors and panels are beautiful and the story is a blend of superhero wonder and sympathy.
