The Hunt for the Devil…

Back in 1909 Henry is trying to grasp what he saw at the farm, while Leeds Devil hysteria is at a fever pitch. While at the post office Henry questions the postman about where he can get more info on the Devil. He sends him to Saul over at the Town Hall, who elaborates on the tale, even sharing other Devil sightings over the years.

Armed with more information about the Leeds Devil, Henry embarks on returning home. On the way he can’t shake the feeling that he’s not alone. It’s then that he gets scared by some local boys, before his Roy stands up for him. It is made clear though that the issues between the brothers are far from fixed. But that is the least of their worries as they are not alone in the woods.

Or Is the Devil Hunting You?

Let This One Be a Devil #2 continues revealing the tale of the Leeds Devil, while also continuing to tell the family drama of the Naughton family. James Tynion IV and Steve Foxe do a great job of slowly revealing more of this tale, all while making the reader feel for our family that we are following. In a world of instant gratification, taking the time to tell a slow burn story really stands out.

The art in this issue is fantastic. The different designs of the Devil keep you guessing what it really looks like or even if it exists at all. Piotr Kowalski makes every panel look amazing while drawing your eye to every detail. The color pallet that Brad Simpson uses really brings out the art, while giving the reader a sense of despair and gloom.

Final Thoughts

Let This One Be a Devil #2 slows down a bit and delivers some much-needed back story and sense of suspense of what’s to come. The intrigue of whether the Leeds Devil is real or just a legend really adds to the story. This is an issue that should be picked up at the LCS, especially if you like horror, mystery, and/or historical stories.

Overall Grade: 9/10
