The Story:

I’m really enjoying how Steve is able to blend genres as this story unfolds. It’s an even mix of science fiction thriller and suspenseful horror that continues to prey on that uneasy feeling you have when you feel as though you’re being watched. This issue leans more towards the action-science fiction side however, with our Marshall’s being forced to team up with the people they came to watch.

The plot also lets us see how life on other outposts are as we’re shown how one of the workers “wins” a lottery to leave his home planet but, only has ten minutes to prepare. The world building and mythos building is steadily becoming my favorite thing about this run.

The Artwork:

The art, wow there is so much to say once more here so let’s start with how the aliens are drawn. There’s a scene in a sauna where we are shown a Xenomorph slowly stalking its prey that is drawn and colored to where we barely see what is going on. To me, that builds the eerie feeling that this franchise is known for which can be hard to create in a comic and yet the team does so well here.

Another standout is getting to see more pov from the Xenomorphs showing how they attack and hunt. The art style is vastly different that it becomes burned in our minds and deepens the connection to this book.

Final Thoughts:

Alien Paradiso #3 ups the stakes and has fully settled into itself. There are unlikely team ups being forged and the main thought is surviving. It’s adding depth to this franchise in a unique way and if you’re sleeping on this run it’s not too late to catch up on it!

Overall Grade: 9.5/10
