Over the years MEGACON Orlando has grown into a massive comic convention that attracts people from all over the world. From big time celebrities, to comic creators, to small businesses, cosplayers, and more. There truly is something for everyone. Here are some of the highlights from my 4 days at MEGACON Orlando 2025.
Check out some tips for any future MEGACONS you may attend.
Comic Creators
For anyone who reads comics, this should be an absolute highlight. While it’s cool to talk to the celebrities, the comic creator area is so much better. They’re geeks just like us. Every one of them I have talked to seemed very happy to engage about what they were writing, and even just what they’re enjoying. You can buy their comics, get them signed, and sometimes even take pictures. However, many of them you can just chat with. Tell them how much you love what they’re currently doing with Wolverine. Many creators have told us, you don’t get rich making comics. They do it because they love it.
MEGACON Orlando Panels
Panels are such a unique thing. You’re surrounded by strangers who all have the same love for a fandom as you do. This year there were quite a few Arrowverse panels, and a packed Supernatural panel. Seeing the actors from these shows (which have all ended), give each other crap, all while raising each other up, and cracking jokes is so much fun. Stay tuned for some articles later this week recapping some fun facts during those panels.
Celebrities aren’t the only ones doing panels at cons. Comic creators, horror filmmakers, and little podcasts (like myself) did too. Hearing Chris Condon talk about Ultimate Wolverine got me just as excited as hearing Jared Padalecki joke about Mark Sheppard. These ‘non-celebrity’ panels are also more intimate. You got a question, they have time for you. Always check out the smaller panels. You never know what you’ll learn, enjoy, or meet. This year at MEGACON Orlando they played Screamboat. A Steam Boat Willie horror movie soon to be streaming.
Celebrities
As this con has gotten bigger so have the celebrities. While most celebrities anyone can literally see, a few recently have been kept behind curtains. This year both Jude Law and Mel Gibson, were only seen behind the curtains for pre-purchased items. However, many celebrity guests were doing selfies at their tables, and talking with everyone. This is definitely the more budget friendly option, when available. Most of them even come in front of the table to get a more personable shot.
Endless Shopping
While endless shopping can sound pretty terrible, comic conventions do it different than any other place in the world. From household items, to jewelry, toys, clothing, and even coffee. However, it’s all geek themed in some way or another. Did I need Wolverine earrings, a Loki ring, a Jedi dress, a Boba Fett toy, or Wonder Woman coffee? While, I definitely needed the coffee, the others only serve the purpose of bringing me joy. Comic conventions are hands down the best places to “treat yo self.”
After Hour Events
As a local, I never even considered the after hour events until my Hops Geek News co-host started joining me at the con. Last year we attended Mosh Eisley. It was literally old school emo music, with a sea of Star Wars fans all head banging with light sabers. It was truly something every Star Wars fan should experience at least once. They take the show on the road, and travel to many big cons.
This year we hit up the Universal Orlando after hours event. As a local and a passholder, I was hesitant to spend the money, but it was completely worth it! Most rides were walk on, and seeing a theme park full of geeks and cosplayers was amazing. Captain Jack Sparrow getting wanded for Velocicoaster while he’s covered in jewelry, was hilarious.
There are many other after parties as well. One for every fandom it seems. If you’re making the trek to Orlando next year (March 19-22, 2026), definitely see what after parties are available. If you decide to do one, make sure to hit up the Comics on Coffee booth. You will need it.
The Floor at MEGACON Orlando
Being on the floor itself is an adventure. So many amazing cosplays, cars, alligators, and the 501st. MEGACON Orlando never disappoints with their Star Wars area. The best part about the Star Wars love is what it’s all about it. The 501st is a charity, and at MEGACON Orlando they create an epic area all to raise money for Give Kids the World. They’re a charity that helps sick kids make some dreams come true! It’s all donation, so you can take all the pictures you want no matter if you donate or not.
All in all, if this is a convention you haven’t done, you need to add it to the list. While it’s no NYCC or San Diego, it’s growing every year, and has become a Godzilla of a con all its own. Tickets for next year will be on sale this March, and dates are already set for 2026. We’ll see you again on March 19, 2026 MEGACON Orlando!
