The Rocketfellers escaped the 25th century in the nick of time. As they try to get back home, they fear they may be forever stuck in the very old past, of the year 2024. They’re being hunted throughout time, but it’s still Christmas, and they’re still a family trying to live their lives.

The Story for Issue 2
As we see the hunt for the Rocketfellers continue (in an epic and gorgeous 2 page shot showcasing the Ghost Machine universe), we see dad working hard to get everyone home. Nevertheless, it’s still the most wonderful time of the year, and the Rocketfellers have magic to make for the kids. Christmas traditions go back centuries, and it looks as if they continue for centuries. So the Rocketfellers go on their own hunt. For a Christmas tree. However, their tree picking has a bit of a 25th century spin, with a still classic Christmas feel.
The Art
In issue 2 the art goes back and forth from very futuristic, to traditional family Christmas. Two stories are simultaneously being told. Much like in any family, personal life and parenting never stop. Not even when you’re being hunted across timelines by cyborg looking creatures. The art helps to capture the feel of both stories beautifully.
The icing on the already delicious gingerbread cookies, was of course the 2 page spread. As the Rocketfellers are being hunted different realities are scanned. These are all the realities, both past and future, of the Ghost Machine universe. All the artists for each comic contributed their art to this spread, making it even more special. Such a fun, gorgeous, and creative way to showcase this amazing world Ghost Machine has created. Additionally, I caught a little Comics on Coffee Easter Egg. I’m a sucker for Easter eggs, and it just made an already fantastic comic, make me smile one extra time.
The Rocketfellers #2 Rating 10/10
Yippee Ki-Yay, Rocketfellers. This issue had so much humor, action, and Christmas it could have taken place at the Nakatomi tower. However, it was so much more than that. The Rocketfellers Issue #2 was a perfect metaphor for parenting in December with a futuristic sci-fi twist. Balancing everything, including making the Christmas magic, is never easy. Not even for a family from the 25th century. If you love sci-fi, humor, action, Christmas, or relatable parenting stories… add this one to the pull list!!!
Now, I’m going to go make my kids watch ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ so there is still hope for the future (a little nod to this issue). Cheers, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
