Another amazing story kicks off from the world of Ghost Machine at Image Comics: The Rocketfellers. Your “typical” family from 400 years in the future is being chased. As they very narrowly escape, there’s no where safe to hide in their time, so they head to 2024.

The Story for Issue 1
Megan: Peter J. Tomasi instantly sets the tone in Rocketfellers #1 with the family running for their lives for safety, and adding more of a punch, losing someone on the way. With this excitement starting us off, you’re kept on the edge of your seat while reading the rest of the comic. The family hightails it to 400 years in the past, and has to live amongst a normal suburban neighborhood, without making it known who they are or where they came from, in this case, when they came from.
Of course, this is a struggle for the family as they miss their home, and living their life in the Time Zone Protection Program isn’t what they had in mind when their parents said this would be a “quick vacation”.
VOTE IN THIS YEARS’ CHEERSIES!
Lauren: We kick off off with an intense and emotional escape scene. As we quickly learn the family dynamic, we jump a year into the future, as The Rocketfellers decide to host a Thanksgiving Day pool party for their neighbors. As the family struggles to adjust living 400 years in the past, we wrap up issue one seeing why they had to flee the year 2500. However, this makes their escape that much more mysterious.
The Art
Megan: The art of Rocketfellers #1 does a phenomenal job at matching the tone of the story and bringing that story to life. From the tiny details in the background when they’re running for their lives in the snow, to the close up of the villain’s face, the artwork is pitch perfect throughout the entire comic.
Lauren: The art in this issue was just absolute perfection. From action, to emotions, to a little girl coloring in her room, every scene was so perfectly detailed and gorgeous. This issue wasted no time at all delivering some gorgeous action shots, with up close expressions of The Rocketfellers. No detail was spared, and it made an already amazing story that much better.
The Rocketfellers #1 Rating: 10/10
Megan: I love how Rocketfellers #1 started off with such a bang in the first few pages, that it kept you feeling invested in the family throughout the comic. We didn’t find out too much about the family, but they still gave us just the right amount to keep us locked into the story and wanting more in the end. Something else I really enjoyed about Rocketfellers #1 was the fantastic pacing throughout the comic. It felt very natural and flowed really well.
The comic does stop on a very interesting cliffhanger, which makes me so excited for the next issue. I can say this is easily a 10 out of 10 for me.
Lauren: I have to give this issue 10 out of 10 holo-phones. The Rocketfellers is a perfect blend of action, mystery, and family. Whether your kids are on a can phone, an iPhone, or a Holo-Phone, certain family dynamics seem to transcend time, and The Rocketfellers are no different. The present and the future are beautifully intertwined to tell this unique story in a fun, futuristic, yet relatable way. The cherry on top of an already amazing cliff hanger ending, was seeing that the next issue is about to get a little merry.
