From the world of Something is Killing the Children, House of Slaughter dives deeper into this secret society of monster hunters. Flashing from the past to the present, House of Slaughter introduces us to many different monster slayers. Many of which seem to be more monster than hunter, themselves.

Story for Issue #26

Every 5 issues of House of Slaughter starts a new story. However, they’re all connected, and this one involves the Scarlet storyline (issues 6-10). Issue #26 kicks off with a news article showing that five children were found dead at a summer camp. A summer camp, Edwin Slaughter had been “researching.” The House of Slaughter is shrouded in mystery. While questioning the mysteries often don’t end well, some people just can’t help it. As the mystery starts to somewhat come together, the future for these monster hunters is about to get a lot more difficult.

The Art

Despite this horror comic having incredibly heartbreaking and gruesome storylines, the art brings it all to life in a beautifully dark way. With many of the characters wearing the mask of their house, the art has mastered showing emotions through just their eyes. While this issue didn’t venture into the unknown much, the art still perfectly portrayed the coldness of the House of Slaughter.

Rating for House of Slaughter #26 8/10

If you’re a fan of horror comics, then House of Slaughter (and Something is Killing the Children) is an absolute must to add to the pull list. The more I learn about the kids, the mentors, and the mysteries surrounding the House of Slaughter, the more I want to know. Something is Killing the Children, sucked me into this world, but House of Slaughter is making me fall in love with it. With both comic books going strong at the moment, and a Netflix show in the works (and with it being spooky season), there is no better time to sink your teeth (pun intended) into these monster stories.
