Wolverine Annual #1:
Wolverine is the best at what he does and what he does isn’t very nice. But old Logan is trying to change that and make up for all the carnage he’s caused in his very long life.
Enter the Infinity Watch and Apex and Multitude, two of the stone bearers who are on a hunt for more stones and their handlers. Long story short, Apex is looking very Homelander these days and he’s about to find out how good Logan is at what he does.
The Art:
This is a battle issue plain and simple and the art reflects that perfectly.
Wolverine facing off against Apex is fast moving and jumps from panel to panel effortlessly.
The emotion depicted on Logan’s face is another aspect that only the art of this annual could achieve.
It really is fantastic and pairs with the writing so well.
The Writing:
Wolverine Annual #1 is a fun ride with a lot of action and heart.
Logan always brings out the polarizing nature of comics. He’s done so much damage yet you feel for this hero in so many ways.
Apex has the makings of a hero cut from the same cloth and this issue really dives into some painful points in both of their pasts.
Overall: 9/10
The best issue in the series yet!
Leave it up to Wolverine to turn things up a notch.
This issue brought back the excitement I had for this series coming into it.
We’re still lacking a little bit of our purple friend Thanos, but I have a feeling he’s coming back with a vengeance very soon!
