This first issue is all about space, military, and a lot of fighting. Set in the backdrop of war, it follows Serenity. A tough-as-nails girl who is smart, willing to work on a team, and loves space. There are plenty of time jumps, where Serenity is traveling to different planets and most people are dealing with effects of war. The way that this issue is structured, is that it wants to be a multi-verse story.

Serenity works with Reynolds and other soldiers that are fighting for justice. On one particular planet, a robbery is in progress. Reynolds jumps into action to go and stop the robbery. Serenity comes soon after, and sees that Reynolds stopped everything on his own.

Serenity then is sent to the Planet Hera, when she meets up with the senator. The senator commends both Reynolds and Serenity about the great job they are doing on different planets. The senator has one mission that they both are being sent on. There is a guy, Derrial Book, who is a war criminal. He was able to get into a secured facility, and still valuable property. The goal is for them to go and retrieve it. Serenity asks what kind of property it is, and the senator said that is classified.

They both are off to go and find  Book, and they are having trouble finding him. When they finally do, there is a lot of back and forth fighting. They still are after him, but Book eventually gets away.

What I like about this issue, is the action sequences.  I like that each action is shown through the comic panels. One thing that I did notice with this debut, is that there is a lot of dialogue. I see that the writer is trying to world build, but, it seems that this issue is doing a lot of that.

I give this issue a 7.5/10.
