BLOOD HUNT: Union Jack the Ripper by Marvel Comics
Marvel’s Blood Hunt is in full chaos across multiple comic books. Vampires have been in the Marvel universe hiding in the shadows for decades. Not any more.
Currently the world is faced with a connection to the darkforce dimension, which led to a complete sun black out, and an apocalypse level amount of vampires. Joey Chapman has taken over the mantle of Union Jack following the war hero, James Montgomery Falsworth.
Now as the world is up against an army of vampires, Joey has become: Union Jack the Ripper. However, last we saw him, he had an interesting guest staying with him. One that is both terrifying and surprising to those who are hoping a now injured Union Jack will be their hero.

The Story for Issue 2
Issue 2 doesn’t skip a beat. We immediately see pages covered in vamps and blood. As Union Jack fights through his stitches we see him emotionally struggling with it all. He’s listening to the enemy and wondering how right they are. Wondering if the darkness truly is inside all of us all the time. We just need that push to become the darkness we fear. Yet, he’s still fighting, and we learn he’s doing more than just physically fighting. This realization is then met with a save that isn’t only surprising, but one that gives everyone hope. Hope for survival, and hope for humanity.
The Art
Union Jack the Ripper, continues to deliver art that is dark yet has almost an old school classic comic book feel to it at the same time. When we’re focused on people, we see fear and determination. Then we turn to the monsters. These may be the most creepy vampires I have ever seen. There is just something about them that gives me the ick, and makes them so evil.
Union Jack the Ripper Rating 9/10
The Blood Hunt is in full swing right now! You can dip your toe into the pool of blood with Union Jack, or cannonball in with stories across the Marvel universe. The last page gives you a list of what to pick next. Union Jack is a fantastic place to start, as he is struggling with his own humanity and the darkness in himself, while there is no shortage of vampires getting obliterated. If you’re a Marvel fan who loves vampires, then this should be at the top of your Blood Hunt pull list.
