After a triumphant return, IDW has dropped the second issue in this sequel series, they are not messing around! This issue brings together so much in both Godzilla and Ranger lore, and it’s just the second issue!!

The Story

Honestly, I will try and do my best not to spoil major plot points. But we already know we are jumping universes from the fragments of the Multiversal Focus that was shattered in the previous series. Rita, with the help of another version of Astronema, is trying to get all the pieces back. But it seems the White Ranger, also from another universe, has a piece and has “some” control over it.

The other covers spoil who we will meet along the way, but the how and why; I can’t, in good faith, spoil it, but implore you to go out and get this book!

The Art

I love how this book is seen through the Godzilla lens. The Rangers don’t look like the polished style you see in other books from BOOM!, and that’s okay! The IDW treatment feels much like an HD version of the old 90s comics. On the flip side, Godzilla looks as fierce as ever! He is unstoppable, and the comic reminds you of that in every panel he commands! That all comes from the talent of the art team!

Thoughts from the Multiverse

Things are picking up, and it’s not just the story that’s rolling along. Characters from both sides are joining the fray! The last panel of the book left me speechless! Cullen Bunn comes from a background in Horror, Heroes and Kaiju. But he knows the Rangers, and using the Multiverse to his advantage opens up storytelling.

One thing I absolutely loved is the fact that this book throws a huge “HOLD ON A SEC” to Ranger lore:

WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO STOP FOR A MEGAZORD OR MORPH SEQUENCE, AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU INTERRUPT IT?

And do you get the answer?! YES! It’s something I would have never thought of but didn’t realize I needed! Having that said, it opens up the door for so much more!

Godzilla vs. MMPR PT II #2 is a Kaiju sized 10/10

I can’t wait to see where this story goes and the mixing of both the Godzilla franchise and Rangerverse has me wanting more NOW!
