Wolverine by Marvel Comics
This run of Wolverine has been going on for a few years now, however, the Sabretooth War has just hit part 8. You can go back to issue 1, kick it off with Issue 41 (the start of the Sabretooth War), or dive right into the fun with this issue. There’s always a recap at the beginning to refresh everyone’s memory, or for those who are just joining the party.
Last we saw Sabretooth had been trapped and Wolverine had lost his powers (thanks to Sabretooth and a mutant depowering gun), yet he was still ready to fight. Meanwhile, Laura has escaped, and there is still plenty of Sabreteeth to deal with. Including a “mini version” called Bad Seed.

The Story for Issue 48
I started my day this morning by watching the new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. The range of emotions and excitement I felt made me instantly watch it a couple more times finding more details and getting more hyped about how much I love this character. On the pages or on the screen, Logan is such a multilayered character that should be completely unrelatable, but somehow he is very relatable. His human side is what I love about him, and this issue kicked right off with Wolverine knowing he not only has something worth killing, but he also has something worth fighting for.
While the Sabreteeth fight Stark Sentinels and Laura makes a grand and desperate exit, we see a depowered Wolverine with another trick up his sleeve to stop the bad guys, and save those worth fighting for. At least those who are still left.
The Art
The art continues to be beautiful, gory, and detailed. This issue began with Wolverine remembering why he continues to fight, with a bit of reminiscing. While it’s always fun to see the detailed art in a fight scene with exaggerated emotions and blood spurts, these nostalgic shots in the beginning were my favorite in this issue. The colors and nods to past moments were all very calming, all the while being mixed in with Sabretooth’s dark and traumatizing memories. One fueled by love, and the other by hate.
Wolverine #48 Rating: 9/10
As the Sabretooth War is nearing the end, Wolverine may be powerless, but he definitely is not rolling over. Despite being more human than mutant now, he’s still the best at what does, even if what he does best isn’t very nice. SNIKT!
