Nightwing’s First Villain
Dick Grayson, the original Robin and Batman’s first sidekick, has had his fair share of battles over the years. Once he outgrew the green and yellow, he left Gotham and became Nightwing, the defender of Blüdhaven.
However, who was the first to make themselves a target of Nightwing? The man responsible for the death of Grayson’s parents and the entire reason that he became a hero in the first place was Tony Zucco.

Making his first appearance in Detective Comics #38 back in 1940, Zucco has remained a constant foil for Dick Grayson ever since the very beginning.
As the head crime boss of Blüdhaven, Zucco became public enemy #1 for Nightwing. The two characters are forever intertwined, and Zucco’s actions have had an everlasting impact on Grayson’s life.
