HOW ABOUT THE ART?
Sam Gudilin’s pencils are gnarly, gritty and very stylized. This is the work of an artist that found his own rhythm and flow for storytelling. But also, you’ll find Gudilin is exhibiting a myriad of techniques. Like forced perspective, splash pages, 2-page spreads, limited color palette and a panel work that perfectly compliments the writing.
OVERALL GRADE: 10/10
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m confident when I say the future of comic books is in good hands. Every day there are ambitious up-and-coming creators breaking into the industry. With incredible ideas and remarkable talent to explore storytelling through this medium. Moreover, creators that offer new perspectives to stories we’re familiar with. That is exactly the case of The Digger. What if you could see the “Indiana Jones” (Paramount Pictures) story from the lens of a local child? This is a must read, it has so much heart and soul poured into every single page. I’m telling you, you don’t want to miss out on this!
