The Bodies Fall in Sleep #4
We’ve seen some brutal, horror themed stuff in the backgrounds, but now we’re kicking off with a pile of dead bodies! What did Jo do this time?! The last time we saw him he had jumped from a bridge hoping to rid the world of whatever evil was within. Like a true monster, not even death can stop the carnage!
In Case You Missed It: Sleep #3 There’s Nowhere Left to Go but Down
Characters and Emotion in Sleep #4
While the brutality and horror get a boost, so does the drama. The intensity in the characters was radiating off of the pages. Jon’s despair is so gripping. The towns peoples fear and insecurities are infectious. Everyone in this issue has been put through some traumatizing events that you feel in your own gut.
The one on one’s that Jon has with Tabby, Hipp, Kelly, and Pastor Stephen are so appealing and raw. Each of them have developed in unique ways that cause more and more conflict and chaos, especially in Jon’s soul.
The Art of Psychological Horror in Sleep #4

The art as mentioned, gets an uptick in violence. The intensity in moments of fear jump of the characters faces and into feed you the emotions. There’s so much pain, fear, and suffering in this issue that is implied through body language.
Of course, the red continues to grow. The trail through the city expands and the optometrist continues to be surrounded by it. He’s the only person in this issue that isn’t grieving or freaking out. Then there’s Hipp. We’ve seen the red’s associated with him, but in this issue it’s engulfing him. The color itself has morphed into a force of nature.
Overall Grade 10/10
Each issue of this series just gets better and better. I’m so deep into this story now that I can’t help but be caught up in the mystery and emotion. Jon is such a real and relatable character. There is so much more to explore in terms of what he’s going through and how it relates to us, the reader. I love the art style. I love the feeling of dread that’s created. This is a horror story that will stick with us in the end.
