“Have I Said This Already? My Name is Anna.”
Anna is stuck in a time loop where she keeps reliving the worst day of her life, the day when her abusive father went too far and caused her brain damage. As she tries to move past this moment, it always pulls her back in. No matter how good or bad her life gets, she is just stuck being pulled back in. What is she to do? How will she break this loop? Will she make potentially detrimental choices and take drastic action, or will she emerge positively and persevere?
All Loops Come to an End
Assorted Crisis Events #5 tells a tale that really hits home for a lot of people unfortunately. The moral and message of the story does really shine through and is a big kudos to Deniz Camp. Unfortunately, outside of the message the story is very confusing and at times hard to follow. Confusion is a part of the story, but when the reader can’t make heads or tales of what’s going on through multiple pages, makes for a rough read.
Although where the story may fall short, the art covers and really shines brightly. Eric Zawadzki really paints a beautiful world and brings the story to life with the art. Every page and panel look stunning and absolutely breathtaking. Jordie Bellaire does a fantastic job with the color choices, which makes the art pop even more. The primary concern regarding the art department pertains to certain page layouts, where the placement of text may contribute to confusion within the narrative.

Final Thoughts
Assorted Crisis Events #5 delivers a great message with some beautiful art but also comes across as very confusing and scattered. While some confusion is intentional, much of it appears misplaced within the story and design. This series is one of the weirdest series on the shelves, which really draws me to it. However, this issue fell short for me story wise and not even the impeccable art could save it completely.
Overall Grade: 6.5/10
