Jules has inherited her mothers house upon her death. She starts to hear and witness some creepy things that she cannot explain. She hires exterminators, who find nothing and even her brother thinks she’s going crazy. However, is she really crazy or is the house really haunted?

This tale is a great opening story. Between great writing from Stephanie Phillips and tremendous art from Valeria Burzo, you can’t go wrong. By the time you get to the end, you may think you’ve gone crazy.

The Honking

Written By Brendan Hay – Art By PJ Holden & John McCrea

Colors By Ellie Wright

Cam and Justin are a young couple, and they are shopping for household decorations at a flea market. It looks like they will never agree on something to buy when Justin finds a clown painting, he wants, and it doesn’t matter that Cam is against. After bringing the painting home, it is revealed that the painting is no clowning matter.

This tale brings a human element to it as everyone can relate to not agreeing with a partner. The twist in this story is classic yet pulled off flawlessly. The art looks great and really captures the fun of the story.

The Main Cahracter

Written By Joshua Hale Fialkov – Art By Andrea Sorrentino – Colors By Michelle Madsen

A man gets in a terrible accident that claims the lives of four people. The cops clear him of any wrongdoing, and he returns to his life. It’s then that he starts to see a person in a red cloak wherever he is. This leads him to try and find out who is in the cloak and why they are tormenting him. When the reveal finally comes, he is unable to cope with reality.

This final tale is very dark and deals with a very real issue. The message behind the story is strong and may be hard for certain people to confront. The story ends with a really helpful PSA, which brings this realistic story to a fitting conclusion.

Final Thoughts

Epitaphs from the Abyss #8 proves why this series is one of the best anthology horror comics on the shelves today. The fact that this issue takes a huge swing with a dark tale that is very real, speaks volumes of how good this series truly is. Pick a copy of this issue up and then add this series to your Pull List ASAP.
