The Story for Hornsby & Halo #16

Zach and Rose are determined to complete their Trillion Dollar kid assignment, as well as figure out what the hell (maybe literally) is going on in their town. So they hit up a show featuring The DEADTONES. Much like they’re not ordinary kids, this is no ordinary band. They all immediately sense how different and special each other are. Question are asked, and favors are made. However, in the end something else is lurking. Something that none of them are prepared for.

Art

The art is always something special to take in when reading Hornsby & Halo, however, the addition of these new characters has definitely added to the enjoyment. The DEADTONES are a group of misfits, and not in the ordinary way one might imagine misfits. At first glance they may look like monsters, but they’re clearly anything but. Nevertheless, they’re insanely cool to look at, and they can put on a hell of a concert. The scenes at the concert when Zach and Rose first see them, is absolutely stunning art. The colors, the line work, the lettering… it all comes together perfectly. While the story is also amazing I could continue enjoying this comic solely for how awesome The DEADTONES look. We then wrap with a scene that gave me the chills.

Final Thoughts

We’ve come a long way from Zach and Rose discovering who, or what, they are. There have been so many twists and turns, and revelations. Throughout I have loved how they’ve handled it, and how they’ve grown. These new additions and storylines have been a ton of fun to see weaved through the primary story of these two. I can’t wait to see where they go next as well as what in the hell that last page was about!

Overall Grade: 9/10
