The Rocketfellers #11 – Father Knows Best

Published:

Last we saw the wholesome family, The Rocketfellers, it was Halloween night, and Aunt Raina was closing in. Trick or treating was cut short, and this family from the 25th century, is no longer feeling “safe” in the year 2025.

The Story for The Rocketfellers #11

While the Rocketfellers crawl away from a crash, they’re trying to put out a fire, and not the one from the exploding van. The fire of an angry kid who is sick of running, and misses his friends. They attempt to calm him down, while simultaneously not listening to him because they’re still in the middle of a chase. A chase that is literally on top of them. As dad says enough, the family and future is now at the mercy of Roland Rocketfeller’s hail Mary.

The Art

Crashes, explosions, a cyborg dog in action, a desert landscape, and more. The art throughout this run has been beautiful, detailed, and moving. However, there were some extra moments in this issue that stood out. As Raina closes in, her crash landing was as chaotic as it was gorgeous. From the colors to the details, it was all around a perfect stand out moment.

This issue also elicited a lot of fear. Not fear for oneself, but the worst fear imaginable: fear for your child. That fear was perfectly expressed throughout this issue among the constant action and explosions.

Overall Grade: 9.5/10

The Rocketfellers continue to tell an amazing sci-fi story while still maintaining the fact that they’re a family first. While I’ve never had to hide my family centuries before they were born to keep them safe from my sibling, and protect the future, the story is still relatable. While I was concerned at one point we were going down a road that I don’t personally love in story telling, I was quickly and very much so proven wrong. The hail Mary in question I did not see coming, and I can’t wait to see what comes of it.
