Last we saw our angel child with terrible parents, and our demon child with amazing parents it was Halloween. However, these non human children were not concerned with trick or treating. Despite wanting nothing more than to be normal children, Rose Hornsby and Zachary Halo knew something wasn’t right. Both of their parents were suddenly summoned into the city, and it didn’t go well for either of them.

The Story for Hornsby & Halo #12
With their parents all set up and locked up, Zach and Rose follow a pull they feel. While they’ve tried to deny who or what they are, they now feel as if they’re literally being pulled. As they follow down this path together, the rogues of heaven and hell are hot on their trail. However, they encounter someone who suddenly makes the world seem a lot bigger. After a little twist on a Sunday school lesson, they continue on their journey.

The Art
From space, to the past, to the rat filled areas of New York City, and beyond. The art in this issue was absolutely gorgeous no matter where the story took us. At one point we meet a character with home decor that made me stop and closely look at the background. At what first appears to just be a beautiful background then makes so much sense, and explains this new character even more. A character I hope to dive more into.

Overall Grade: 9.5/10
I feel like Hornsby & Halo has really been flushing out the characters of Zachary and Rose, and they’re now ready to face where they came from. Well, as much as a couple of 13 year old kids can be. With the parents out of the way, and the introduction of a new type of “creature” I’m very pumped to see how they move forward from here. The nature verse nurture argument is truly being put to the test.
Hornsby & Halo is another fantastic story from the world of Ghost Machine. The stakes are getting higher, and the tension is building. Yet, there are still laughs along the way. I got to give issue #12, 9.5 great balls of fire, out of 10.
