The world of Ghost Machine at Image Comics introduced the Rocketfellers last Thanksgiving. While it wasn’t clear why this family from the twenty fifth century was hiding in 2024 then, it is now. As the past is catching up quickly, they need to run.

The Story for The Rocketfellers #10

As Raina Rocketfeller tracks down her brother and his family, she closes in on Halloween 2025. As the Rocketfellers prepare to flee once again, there’s something that has to be done first: Trick-or-Treating. This nuclear family continues to attempt to give their kids the most normal upbringing possible, while fighting the unimaginable throughout time. While the treats are flowing, the tricks are in no short supply either as Aunt Raina is as close as she’s ever been.

The Art

Throughout this run the art has been detailed, gorgeous, badass, and more. However, you throw in some epic chase scenes and a ton of Halloween costumes and what didn’t seem like it could get any better, gets better. I absolutely loved the art in this issue! I found myself going through every single detail on each page, so as to not miss out on anything. Any fans of the other Ghost Machine comics, may recognize the costumes on the cover. Even the dog is dressed appropriately.

The futuristic technology surrounded by Halloween costumes centuries older, is such a fun clash. The Rocketfellers continues to perfectly and beautifully balance the future and the present.

Overall Grade: 9.5/10

What a fun ride The Rocketfellers continues to be. While futuristic and time traveling, it’s incredibly grounded and relatable. As we see AI all around us now, debates on how ethical it is in certain fields is not an uncommon topic. The ethics of technology, and how far it should be pushed, is why this family has been torn centuries apart.

The Halloween spin on this story was fantastic. While, the focus wasn’t Halloween, this amazing holiday helped push the story forward, and continue to show how relatable the Rocketfellers are. It also added quite a bit of humor and fun. I’m starting to feel like a broken record, but this comic is awesome. Everyone who loves good storytelling and gorgeous art, should pick up The Rocketfellers. The fact they sprinkle the holidays into their books is just the Pumpkin Reeses you stole from your kid’s trick-or-treat bag, on top of a sundae.
