The Story
After being stuck in Sakaar and her cousin disappearing without a trace, Jen Walters is still sitting on this dystopian planet that she wants no part of. However, she made a promise to her cousin, Hulk, that she would keep an eye on things. That’s proving more and more difficult as she’s already witnessed a murder, attended a funeral, was invited to a wedding, and every bit of chaos in between. Now, to add to the pile of exhaustion, she has a violence-thirsty egomaniac calling himself the King of Sakaar. Korven Blackjaw saw his wife, Myrren, die by the hands of The Thousand Eyes, and he puts all the blame on Hulk.

Now, stricken with grief, Korven appointed himself the King and doesn’t care if he has any support whatsoever. His idea of dealing with anyone that stands against him? Murder them, of course. This is not the way She-Hulk wants to handle any of this as she believes in due process. But of course, Korven doesn’t take kindly to her warnings and threatens the lives of anyone he can get his hands on in spite of her.
What Korven doesn’t know is that there’s someone who’s willing to fight for the throne. Someone who understands the people of Sakaar. It’s someone that Sakaar needs as King. He’s willing to fight Korven for the throne, and he has the planet of Sakaar on his side.
The Writing
The life of Jen Walters on the planet of Sakaar is getting more and more complicated as time goes on, and the readers are benefitting from it greatly. Seeing Jen in this new world, with new laws, and a new way of life continues to be exciting and paramount.
Stephanie Phillips takes you to the planet of Sakaar, and shows you just how dominating the life is there. She-Hulk gets thrown into this madness, and has to be the one that tries to keep things by the book, but that’s harder than it looks. Korven is a violence-hungry person that believes a firm hand is the only way to get what he wants. Maybe this is all coming from grief, but it seems like this is who he is as a person. He’s She-Hulk’s exact opposite, which was a fantastic call from Phillips. We get to see what She-Hulk stands for and how far she’s willing to go to ensure that everything is done by how she believes.
The Art
The artwork of Planet She-Hulk #2 continues to impress with a fantastic creative team. Each page is detailed to perfection, with action sequences that puts you right into the fight. The coloring of the comic is very well handled with more muted colors, that hammer down the dystopian feeling of Sakaar. The lettering is topnotch work, with leaving the reader feeling the tension of the story between the characters. All of this is thanks to Aaron Kuder, Scott Hanna, Sonia Oback, and Joe Caramagna, who all absolutely nailed their parts of the book.
Final Thoughts
Planet She-Hulk has been a hard-hitting story that continues to impress with the second issue. If you’re a Hulk fan, then this is the comic for you.
