Diana and Barbara continue their research to help Diana find the truth and the lost island of Themyscira. As the research continues, the world does not stop needing its protector, as Diana must juggle finding her people and her emotions.

Creative Team: Kelly Thompson (WRITER), Matias Bergara (ARTIST), Jordie Bellaire (COLORS and COVER), Becca Carey (LETTERS), and Hayden Sherman (COVER).
The Story:
Kelly shifts gears ever so slightly in this issue as she brings us closer to Diana in a different way. We begin to see Diana wear down and become vulnerable as the weight of constant breaking news, combined with her pursuit of a mysterious foe who drains her emotionally and challenges her in different ways, begins to take its toll.
It opens up the story and shows us the budding relationship between Barbara and Diana. Their research for her home is allowing a chance for Barbara’s character to shine and Kelly is bringing them closer which as we know their relationship puts a sinking feeling in our stomachs at the same time.
Overall, this story brings the mystery forward in not only Themyscira but, this malevolent foe that is challenging Diana on levels we have not seen. The story only gets stronger with each issue.
The Art and Letters:
Matias comes into this issue, bringing a different flavor to the artwork. A standout detail for me is how Matias slowly adds details to Diana throughout the issue. In the early pages, she is her typical bright-eyed self, but as the issue goes on, subtle details in the way she is drawn are added showing her being worn down. The look in her eyes and how she is carrying herself throughout the issue. She becomes more slouched and tired-looking.
Additionally, the colors from Jordie bring bursts of blues and reds together, leaping the action from the pages. Diana’s helmet is a blend of dark colors, causing the red in her visor to stand out, almost making us feel her anger and determination at various points. The emotions seep from the panels and excellently drawn and colored splash pages with Becca’s lettering delivering weight to the words spoken.
Overall Grade: 10/10
