NYCC DAY 3 RECAP – IN THE END, THE FANS WIN!

Published:

Saturday of New York Comic Con 2025 was overflowing with news. All the major publishers wanted to leave a strong impression on the busiest con day. Panels and guests announced had fans making a difficult choice on what to attend. 3 of the major ones ran at almost identical times. This made it hard to attend all. Fear not. This is the recap of what you need to know about NYCC 2025 Saturday!

DC K.O. panel

DC COMICS IS ALRIGHT FOR FIGHTIN’ !

At the DC K.O. panel, the bar was raised on expectations. Due to the overwhelming success of the “Absolute” & “All In” movements, this panel was a can’t miss for DC die-hards. Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, & Javi Fernández led an all-star panel on the future of DC.

Kicking off events was the announcement of “DC K.O: All Fight Month”. This is a series of stories pairing characters in a 2 out of 3 round match-up. The big element in play is the 2nd round, characters can become a version of themselves through any timeline. An example given was Joker vs. Jason Todd. That second round, Todd could choose to become Robin!? It’s another bold initiative in the storytelling landscape.

DAY 2 RECAP!

That wasn’t the biggest news from this panel. “DC Next Level” was unveiled to the audience. Starting in March of 2026, familiar characters and titles would be returning to the LCS. Leading the pack were “Batwoman” by Greg Rucka and Dani along with LOBO by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona. One of the more ambitious relaunches will be coming from Joshua Williamson. He will be bringing back the Legion Of Superheroes. This was nothing short of an excellent moment to cap off the well-received news. It also wasn’t the end of Williamson’s day.

energon universe panel

THE WORLD STILL RUNS ON ENERGON

Skybound Entertainment held their annual ENERGON UNIVERSE panel on Saturday. Williamson made the panel along with Robert Kirkman, Dan Mora, Conor Hughes, & Jorge Corona. They broke down what’s coming for all 3 EU titles. G.I. Joe has their “Dreadnok War” looming.

The panels displayed teased the “partnership” of Duke and Cobra Commander. Longtime fan-favorite Road Block was announced for a future issue. His story will be part of another on building in between issues: Night Force.

Void Rivals teased the upcoming Quintesson War. This was upstaged by the Transformers new beginnings with Kirkman and Mora. Issue #25 of the series welcomed in Miles Mayhem of the M.A.S.K. franchise. This complimented Matt Trakker debut in their Free Comic Book day issue. Trakker is returning in the pages of G.I. Joe later in 2026. It was a moment that fans were creating their own theories on who else could be coming through the EU in the future. The crowd left very pleased before going to the main event of Saturday.

GUESS WHO’S BACK AT THE HOUSE OF IDEAS?

Marvel Comics ended Saturday with their marquee panel “Next Big Thing“. The panel featured creators Phillip Kennedy Johnson & Deniz Camp. Johnson broke down the upcoming “Infernal Hulk” series. It was touted as this version of the Green Goliath as the most monstrous version fans have seen. Camp jumped in and discussed the future of the Ultimate Universe. Fans bared witness to the countdown of the line’s teased end. It was hinted that the line may end but this wouldn’t be the last we see of certain characters.

Even as titles dealing with the fallout of “One World Under Doom” were showcased, Marvel had one major surprise left to spotlight.

It was announced that IRON MAN is returning in an all new series. The book will have Carmen Carnero on art. This wasn’t the biggest shock. That honor belonged to JOSHUA WILLIAMSON! The fan-favorite writer of G.I. Joe and Superman is returning to Marvel with a great concept for Ol’ Sheelhead.

A statement was made to the crowd that “Tony Stark is the most dangerous weapon in the Marvel Universe.” This was followed up with images of Madame Masque and other characters teasing this plot. If there was ever any doubt of the panel’s title, this reveal solidified the billing.

Day 3 of NYCC 2025 delievered for fans wanting to celebrate all things comics. With one more day left, there’s still a few panels that will cap off what has been an excellent weekend of pop culture content.
