Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I’m going to be reviewing the 2nd issue of the Tides of Terror storyline from the Hyperspace Stories line by Dark Horse Comics!

As we saw in the first issue you have Kit Fisto, Nahdar Vebb, Mace Windu & Shaak Ti on the planet Tordus and the Axil Research Station. It’s purpose is to explore the ruins of an ancient underwater civilization.
However, as is often the case there’s a disagreement as to if it’s helping or not. What quickly followed was a LOT more than they might’ve bargained for. So just what does the deep blue sea have in store for them now? Let’s jump into it!
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Tides of Terror #2 by George Mann (Writer), Luis Morocho (Pencils), Le Beau Underwood (Inks), Michael Atiyeh (Color), Tyler Smith & Jimmy Betancourt (Letters) is a solid second entry into the series that’s filled with action & high stakes.
The Story
George Mann picks up right where he left off in issue 1, the stakes are high and there’s trouble all around our heroes. Shaak Ti & Mace Windu are trying to rescue all of the people on the research station. Meanwhile Kit Fisto & Nahdar are trying to stem the damage that’s been done to the station.

I really liked how the stakes kept getting raised throughout the issue. I also really like that how despite the fact that you have FOUR Jedi there (3 of which are Jedi Masters) it was still a difficult task for them to handle.
The Artwork
Luis Morocho, Le Beau Underwood & Michael Atiyeh do another tremendous job with this issue’s artwork. There is a lot going on in each of the panels from start to finish, and each one is done beautifully. I also really liked the designs of the aquatic creatures in this issue. I got a little bit of Jaws vibe with some of them, but the others looked like something out of my childhood nightmares and I loved it!
FINAL POINT: This series continues to be a fun read for even the most casual of Star Wars fans. The stakes aren’t galaxy wide, but just large enough to be extremely intriguing. An action packed story together with incredible artwork make this an issue you don’t want to miss.
OVERALL GRADE: 8.0/10
