  • What in an Earth Farmer?
  • Who is the Warden of the Goats?

ROOK EXODUS #7:

Is this a comic or a prediction of humanity’s future?? In Rook Exodus #7, we continue our journey following the new Crow Warden on Exodus, a planet where humans control nature through technology and stuggle to survive after the world engine has mysteriously shut down.

It was supposed to be a promise of a better life, but greed and carelessness once again take over and now, our protagonist has to figure out how to merely survive his new life.

Creative Team:

Creators: Jason Fabok & Geoff Johns

Color Artist: Brad Anderson

Letters: Rob Leigh

Publisher: IMAGE COMICS/ GHOST MACHINE

The Art:

The first 10 pages or so are simply a chance for the team to show off the art through a classic battle on Exodus. It’s Wolves taking on Elk and it’s a battle led by two humans and their respective Exodus clans.

From that point on, the story takes over but not before the art really sets the stage here.

The art is especially impressive given it’s a world created from the wonderful minds of Fabok and Johns.

Exodus is a place of battle and blood, but also a place to be reminded how powerful mother nature and her creations can be.

The Writing:

This is where the fun begins. We connect back with Rook who now is completely steadfast in his mission to save Exodus.

New readers discover that it’s been two years since the greedy corporation that cultivated Exodus and sold plots of land on the new planet to leave all their customers to die … or so he thought.

It’s actually way worse as the Bear warden was actually hired by Better World to come back to Exodus and take back the technology they originally gave to the farmers. Classic corporation double cross, all for greed.

But Rook is doing his best to unite with other wardens to save this world and he just found a major ally.

Overall Grade: 9.0/10

This continues to be such a fun, meaningful series. The layered backstories of the farmers on Exodus, coupled with the animals they now control and bond with is a story that a new generation of comics books fans has been clamoring for. It mirrors the world we live in and how harmony with the land and the animals might be the utopia the characters in the book and the readers both crave in their lives – whether it be on the page or in real life.
