Void Rivals #23 – Why Unity May Destroy Them All

Published:

Issue #23 of Void Rivals is a solid blend of answering long-standing questions while still introducing new mysteries that keep you hooked. Robert Kirkman continues to weave a compelling story, and Conor Hughes’ illustrations bring it all to life beautifully. The Energon Universe is really starting to take shape in this issue, and it’s definitely something worth writing home about.

This issue gives us some much-needed answers, but not without leaving a trail of new questions and just enough to keep things interesting without feeling overwhelming. It’s a great balance, and it shows how carefully this story is being constructed.

Let’s talk about the story for a second. The forgetful Skuxxoid has completely won me over, and I genuinely feel for him and want to see him find out what happened to his family.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about Wheelie at first, but he’s starting to grow on me. And Hot Rod… I can’t believe I’m saying this, but he’s growing on me, too. (If you know, you know.)

Now for the bigger picture: Were the Agorrians and Zertonians always meant to be divided to survive? Or is Solila the missing piece that could change everything? That question alone has me eager for what’s next.

OVERALL GRADE: 10/10

Overall, issue #23 of Void Rivals is a fantastic addition to the Energon Universe. The storytelling is sharp, the artwork is stunning, and there’s just the right touch of heart. It’s an easy 10/10 for me and I can’t wait for the next issue.

But hey, what do I know? I’m just a guy who loves reading comic books.
